Massimo Moratti has all but conceded defeat in Inter Milan’s bid to sign Carlos Tevez, after rivals AC Milan reportedly matched their offer.

Milan have already agreed personal terms with the Argentina international, yet the proposed deal has stalled over the Serie A champions’ refusal to commit to signing the player at the six-month loan deal.

The matter had been further complicated by Inter having entered the fray with a reported bid of 25 million euros, plus bonuses.

Milan chief executive officer Adriano Galliani reportedly flew to the English capital on Thursday with club lawyer Lorenzo Cantamessa to meet with the English Premier League club’s board, FIFA agent Giuseppe Riso and Tevez’s representative Kia Joorabchian.

Goal.com understands Galliani matched Inter’s offer for the player during those talks and Moratti has now seemingly accepted that Tevez is bound for Milanello.

When asked by reporters from Canal Plus and the BBC about the state of play, the Inter president responded: “Will we buy him? I do not know.”

Moratti was then asked if he felt Tevez was going to sign for Milan: “I think so,” he said.

Milan are looking to strengthen their front line, with Antonio Cassano having been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing heart surgery.

Tevez has not played for City since refusing to come on as a substitute during the club’s Champions League defeat by Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in September.
