Corinthians are reportedly weighing up the merits of making a bid for Flamengo attacker Ronaldinho.
Ronaldinho has grown unsettled at Flamengo, according to a report in Brazilian newspaper Globoesporte, as he is currently owed over 1.5 million euros in unpaid wages.
The Rio de Janeiro-based club and Traffic, the company which pays a percentage of the 31-year-old’s wages, are yet to come to an agreement on how to solve the impasse.
The former Barcelona star’s brother and agent, Roberto de Assis, claimed he has received offers from Italian and Spanish clubs, but Brazilian sources say he is determined to stay in his homeland – with Corinthians monitoring the situation closely.
De Assis has given Flamengo a deadline of January 25 for Ronaldinho to be paid his due wages, otherwise the Brazil international will boycott the club’s Copa Libertadores opener against Bolivian side Real Potosi.
Ronaldinho joined Flamengo in January 2011, after a decade in Europe at Paris Saint-Germain, Barca and AC Milan, and helped the club to a fourth-placed finish in the Brazilian Serie A last season.
