Reus doesn´t want to stop

Borussia Moenchengladbach’s Marco Reus says the winter break is coming at precisely the wrong time for him.

The 22-year-old midfielder netted twice in Wednesday’s DFB-Pokal win over Schalke, taking his tally for the season to 13 goals in 18 games in all competitions.

And Reus is rather put out by the fact that ‘Gladbach do not play again for just under a month.

“I would prefer to keep playing if we could,” Reus said. “If you’re in such a good spell, you don’t want to stop playing football.”

“But I think, because due to the relegation play-off we had no big summer break, a little rest and relaxation could do us well.”

Reus also revealed that he probably should not have featured against Schalke because of a minor injury, but that he was determined to play through the pain.

“In training in the morning my foot hurt, but I did not care,” he said. “It was the last game (before the break), and against Schalke. I wanted to play badly.”

Reus, who has been capped three times by Germany, joined Moenchengladbach from Rot Weiss Ahlen in 2009.
