Former Bayern Munich midfielder Ze Roberto is hoping that his old club can land a third Champions League title this season.
The Brazilian, who had two spells with Bayern and won four Bundesliga titles at the club, plays for Al Gharafa in the Qatari Stars League.
He believes the German giants have a great opportunity this year to win Europe’s biggest football prize.
“Bayern could do with some luck with who they play in the knockout stages when it comes to their upcoming opponents, if they are to indeed win their third Champions League title,” Roberto said.
“I hope Munich manage to win the Champions League this season, the club is very big and the last title came all the way back in 2001.”
“I think that they could definitely manage it this season though. I think it’s the right time for Munich to do it.”
Qatar will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup with a June kick off, but the Brazilian thinks the intense summer heat in the tiny Arab state will pose a problem for players and fans.
“I think that perhaps FIFA or the Qatari government need to think about what would be best,” Roberto said.
“Maybe they should change the date for the World Cup, because playing the tournament here in June and July will make things very difficult for everyone.”
Ze Roberto has made nine appearances so far for Al Gharafa, who are eighth on the Qatari Stars League table.
