AC Milan defender Thiago Silva been crowned the 2011 Samba d’Or winner for the best Brazilian player in Europe.
The 27-year-old was voted the best by the Sambafoot Association, following his excellent campaign in Italy where he played a significant role in helping his Milan team to the Serie A title last season.
Barcelona right-back Dani Alves came in second place, while Porto striker Hulk finished third in the final standings.
The Samba d’Or has become an annual occurrence since its inception in 2008.
The previous winners of the award are Real Madrid midfielder Kaka, Sao Paulo hitman Luis Fabiano and Inter Milan defender Maicon.
