(GSM) – Internazionale’s Wesley Sneijder has eased fears that he may miss the Champions League final against Bayern München on May 22 after limping off against Roma during the early stages of Wednesday night’s Coppa Italia final.
The Dutch international had to be withdrawn after just five minutes at the Stadio Olimpico following Inter’s 1-0 success against the Giallorossi. But he did not seem too concerned afterwards, suggesting the knock was nothing serious.
He said: “I got a kick on my leg and some blood came out, but I feel better now. I can walk on it so we will see what happens.”
Sneijder was delighted Jose Mourinho’s men had landed the first trophy in what could see them record a treble as they currently lead Serie A while the meeting with Bayern in Madrid looms large.
“I’m very happy about my first title in Italy,” he said. “We can take two more this year and we have to go for it, but the most important one is the first one and now we have to keep focused and win two more titles.
“Madrid is two-and-a-half weeks away, so first we will win the league and then we will look forward to the Champions League title.”
