Monterrey striker Humberto Suazo was absent from training on Tuesday amid speculation surrounding his future.

In an interview with Argentine radio station Radio La Red, director Luis Miguel Salvador revealed that they would not stand in the way of the 30-year-old seeking new pastures, but was adamant that a loan deal was out of the question.

“No team in the world lends you their best striker,” insisted Salvador, after reacting to claims Boca Juniors had set their sights on a temporary arrangement.

However, Salvador warned Suazo that Monterrey’s stance will not change regardless of his refusal to attend training, implying that teams must meet the $US20 million release clause or be turned away from negotiations.

“Even though he is upset (with life at Monterrey), we will not let him go for free. As much as we can take his antics, we will not just sit back,” he said.

“We will not budge from the release clause, but we expect to hear offers for Suazo in accordance to the value of the player.”

Suazo has scored an impressive 70 league goals for Monterrey since arriving from Colo Colo in 2007.
