While the Premier League might have only just got underway, England’s elite have already broken up for their first international break of the 2025/26 campaign.
Although defending champions Liverpool might have got the defence of their Premier League crown off to a flying start, some of England’s heavy hitters have endorsed a hugely worrying start to proceedings.
Despite the new campaign only getting underway last month, it has been suggested that a number of top-flight bosses are already fighting to keep hold of their respective jobs.
With the Premier League returning from the first fortnight interval this weekend, we have taken a look at some of the managers who are facing a tremendous amount of pressure.
Ruben Amorim – Manchester United
While Manchester United might have entered September’s international break with a dramatic 3-2 victory at home against Premier League returners Burnley, that result doesn’t ease any of the pressure on Ruben Amorim’s shoulders at Old Trafford.
Although the former Sporting Lisbon boss might have only arrived in the red half of Manchester 10 months ago, Amorim has rightfully come under a huge amount of public scrutiny after failing to find any kind of stability.
Suffering an infamous EFL Cup exit away at League Two outfit Grimsby on August 27th, there are many United supporters who feel that the Portuguese tactician is unable to turn things around at Old Trafford.
Although the Manchester United hierarchy might have backed their man over the summer, Amorim himself has made it clear that he will be forced to leave his post if a dramatic turnaround isn’t produced following September’s fortnight break.
Breaking a string of unwanted records as they slumped their way to a woeful 15th-place finish, things don’t get any easier for Amorim or his struggling squad as they travel across Manchester to bitter local foes Man City this weekend.
“I think the players spoke really loudly about what they want today.”

Nuno Espírito Santo – Nottingham Forest
Embarking on what was an historic campaign at the City Ground last season as they firmly cemented their spot as one of Europe’s ultimate surprise packages, Nottingham Forest received a string of plaudits from across the continent.
With their Europa League adventure officially confirmed last month following a lengthy court battle, it appeared from the outside that the mood in Nuno Espirito Santo’s camp was at a continued high.
However, heading into September’s international break with a nightmare 3-0 drumming at home against West Ham last weekend, the budding rivalry between Santo and club owner Evangelos Marinakis has stolen plenty of the headlines in Nottingham.
Watching the former Wolves boss spectacularly announce that his and Marinakis’ relationship has deteriorated during a pre-match press conference last month, it has been suggested that the relationship between two fiery characters is unfixable.
With Santo also at the heart of a major battle behind the scenes with global head of football and former Arsenal dealmaker Edu, there has been reports that Ange Postecoglou has already been approached about potentially taking charge at the City Ground.

Graham Potter – West Ham
Although West Ham might have sprung a real upset prior to September’s international break as they managed to put a maiden Premier League victory on the board, there is still a huge amount of pressure behind the scenes in east London.
Despite being last seen storming their way to a thumping 3-0 victory away at Nottingham Forest, it has still been suggested that Graham Potter’s position is under serious scrutiny.
Although the former Chelsea boss might have arrived at the London Stadium back in January, Potter has failed to offer any kind of stability and the Hammers have recorded consecutive Premier League wins on just a single occasion continuing on from last season.
With many fearing that West Ham will find themselves at the heart of a Premier League relegation scrap this year, it was also reported last week that the east London hierarchy have already begun putting feelers out over potential replacements for Potter.
Dealing with some reported financial strugglers behind the scenes, there are also plenty of West Ham fans who have grown frustrated with Potter’s tactical approach.
