The Premier League’s Deadline Day Deals That You Might Have Missed

With Alexander Isak’s transfer saga coming to a spectacular end on Monday night, the now-former Newcastle talisman eventually managed to complete his incredibly messy move to Liverpool for what was a reported British transfer record.

However, with Marc Guehi’s respective move to Anfield falling short following dramatic late negotiations, Monday’s Deadline Day certainly proved to be one of the most exciting in modern memory.

With a record-breaking amount of deal sheets submitted before the 19:00pm deadline, clubs from up and down the country were scrambling right until the final seconds.

While Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho might have completed a shock loan switch to Aston Villa, plenty of notable Deadline Day deals somewhat flew under the radar.

24 hours on from a sensational end to the summer transfer window, we have taken a look at some of the Premier League Deadline Day deals that you might have missed.

Lindelof extends his Premier League stay

Hit with a woeful 3-0 drumming at home against Crystal Palace on Sunday evening and claiming just a single point from any of their first three Premier League appearances, it was always expected that Aston Villa would be active during Deadline Day.

Alongside welcoming Sancho in what was a shock late loan switch from Manchester United, Unai Emery’s men also announced the arrival of Harvey Elliot from Liverpool in a deal that will cost them £35million next summer.

Although Villa might have failed to register a single strike in their first three top-flight showdowns, the former Arsenal boss was keen to bolster his defensive options.

While Victor Lindelof might have been heavily linked with a potential move to Everton this summer, the Swedish international completed a surprise move to the Midlands on Monday afternoon.

Put pen to paper on a two-year deal, the former Manchester United defender has been without a club since leaving Old Trafford at the end of the 2024/25 campaign and ending his eight-year stint.

Nelson returns to west London

Watching Arsenal really break the bank this summer following the blockbuster arrivals of both Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze, Mikel Arteta had made it clear over the summer that he was looking to complete an attacking overhaul in north London.

With Arteta looking to build a squad that can finally claim a first Premier League crown since 2004, it was no secret that a number of Arsenal’s fringe first-team players would be pushed out of the Emirates exit.

Spending the second-half of last season on loan at Fulham, it appeared almost a certainty that Reiss Nelson would once again be on his way out of north London.

While the former England U21 international might have preferred to get his future sorted earlier in the summer, the 25-year-old turned down the chance to complete a return to Fulham and elected to join their bitter local rivals.

With Nelson making it clear that he is desperate to get regular first-team action, Arsenal’s academy graduate has joined Brentford on an initial season-long loan switch.

Brobbey arrives at the Stadium of Light

Mounting a remarkable last-gasp comeback at home against Brentford last weekend as they snatched a thrilling 2-1 victory, Sunderland have enjoyed an impressive start to life back among England’s elite.

Officially marking their Premier League return with an iconic 3-0 romp against West Ham on August 16th, Regis Le Bris’ men have won two of their first three top-flight appearances.

Looking to mount a real charge for Premier League safety this season, the Black Cats have spent almost £160million over the summer and certainly made a real financial statement.

Heading into September’s international break with one final marquee arrival, Sunderland officially announced Brian Brobbey’s signing on Deadline Day.

Previously linked with a potential blockbuster move to Manchester United over the past couple of years, the Dutch international arrives at the Stadium of Light for a reported free of £21.6million.

Brobbey is a two-time winner of the Eredivisie with the Dutch club, and has scored 56 goals and provided 24 assists in 163 appearances for the club.

Zinchenko completes a shock Arsenal exit

While Arsenal might have officially announced the arrival of Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie on a season-long loan, one of the Gunners’ first-team defenders was quickly heading in the opposite direction.

Although defensive talisman William Saliba might have suffered a suspected muscle injury against Liverpool last weekend, that didn’t stop Arteta sanctioning Oleksandr Zinchenko’s dramatic late exit.

Not included in any of Arteta’s first three Premier League squads, the Ukrainian international has almost become a forgotten man in north London.

Only making 15 Premier League appearances last season, Zinchenko made 91 appearances for Arsenal since joining from Manchester City for around £30m in 2022 and becomes Forest’s 12th summer signing.

Looking to kickstart his career away from the Emirates after falling out of favour since Myles Lewis-Skelly’s dramatic rise, the 28-year-old arrives at the City Ground on an initial loan deal at until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
