While we might be over halfway into the January transfer window, the Premier League has been suspiciously quiet.
With the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and runaway leaders Arsenal still not brining in any new recruits, plenty of the attention has been focused on who could be leaving England’s elite this month.
With the 2026 World Cup fast approaching on the horizon, it has been suggested that a number of South American superstars could be on the move over the final fortnight.
Alongside speculation that Man City misfit Savinho could be set for a speedy exit from the Etihad, we have taken a look at some of the South American aces who could be on their way out of the Premier League.
Lucas Paqueta – West Ham
Sat seven points adrift of safety and breaking a string of unwanted records this season, West Ham shockingly already have one-foot in the Championship and the Hammers have rightfully come under a huge amount of scrutiny.
Watching the likes of Mohamed Kudus complete a £50million move to arch-rivals Tottenham over the summer, many expected another of West Ham’s biggest names to leave the London Stadium.
However, while Lucas Paqueta might have eventually been forced to stay put in east London following intense speculation over a Deadline Day switch to Aston Villa, the Brazilian international is reportedly desperate to force a move away this time around.
With some suggestions that the former Lyon playmaker has essentially gone on strike and told the London Stadium hierarchy that he has no intention of playing for the club again, boyhood side Flamengo are working tirelessly to bring the 61-cap international back to his homeland.
Although the Brazilian giants might have reportedly seen an initial bid in the region of £35million rejected earlier in the week, there is growing optimism that a deal can be reached over the coming days.

Joao Gomes – Wolves
While Wolves might have shown some signs of life over the past few weeks, it is no secret that the Old Gold are already planning for life in the Championship.
Sat rock-bottom of the table and remarkably registering just a single win from any of their 21 Premier League appearances this season, Rob Edwards’ side have also been juggling some reported financial issues behind the scenes.
Alongside continued speculation that Norwegian marksman Jurgen Strand Larsen will be allowed to leave Molineux this month, midfield talisman Joao Gomes is attracting serious interest from abroad.
Watching England international Conor Gallagher complete a £35million move to Tottenham on Wednesday, Atletico Madrid are actively seeking midfield reinforcements before the January transfer window slams shut.
Although the 10-cap Brazilian international might still have four years remaining on his current deal at Molineux, Diego Simeone is reportedly a huge admirer of the rugged Wolves starlet.
Previously linked with a blockbuster potential switch to Manchester United, it has also been suggested that reigning Italian champions Napoli are keeping a close eye on proceedings and are weighing up a January swoop.

Marcos Senesi – Bournemouth
Watching Dean Huijsen complete a famous switch to Real Madrid last summer and with Illia Zabarnyi making a permanent move to reigning European champions PSG, it appears almost a certainty that another of Bournemouth’s defensive superstars will be leaving the Vitality.
With his current deal on the south coast set to expire this summer and making it abundantly clear that he will not be signing an extension, Andoni Iraola’s men have accepted that Marcos Senesi will be on the move this month.
With his sights firmly set on securing a spot in Argentina’s World Cup squad over in North America this year, the 28-year-old has a string of European giants who are chasing his signature this month.
Starting in all bar one of Bournemouth’s 21 Premier League appearances this season, it was reported on Thursday that Italian icons Juventus are sat in the driving seat.
With discussions between both clubs underway and Senesi reportedly giving the green light to a sensational move to Turin, Juve are confident of agreeing what could be a cut-price deal for the three-cap Argentinian International.
