England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales have lodged an unopposed bid to co-host the 2035 Women’s World Cup.

Twenty-two venues have been included as part of the bid, with 16 of those in England and six from across the other three nations.

That includes Old Trafford, which is set to be redeveloped, and the proposed new Birmingham City stadium.

Windsor Park, which was set to be a venue for the men’s Euro 2028, but was ultimately not included.

Wembley is likely to be selected to host the final should the bid be ratified by FIFA, while Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium, which is a host venue for Euro 2028, has also been put forward.

A joint statement from the CEOs of The FA, Irish FA, Scottish FA and FA of Wales said: “A Women’s World Cup in the UK has the power to turbo charge the women’s and girls’ game both in the UK and globally.

“Our bid also demonstrates our commitment to leaving a lasting legacy, in the run up to 2035, and the years afterwards.”

England are the two-time reigning European champions, while they finished runners-up to Spain at the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

From 2031, the Women’s World Cup will expand to feature 48 teams.
