Two sides who have their sights set on securing a playoff position this year, Harrogate will host a revitalized Salford on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Harrogate may have been disappointed to have only taken a point off of Barrow over the weekend, Simon Weaver’s side still hold a five-point buffer in the playoff positions. Now sat just three points adrift of their visitors in midweek, their recent stability at the CNG Stadium will play a huge part in their charge to land a top-seven finish. Picking up back-to-back 1-0 wins over Maidenhead and Bromley, Harrogate have now gone over 250 minutes without conceding a goal on home soil. Losing just one contest at the CNG Stadium in 2019, the Yellow and Blacks will be confident of potentially leapfrogging Salford on Wednesday.

As for the visitors, while they may have struggled with their form entering the New Year, Salford appears to have once again found their feet. While a 0-0 draw with Barnet on Saturday may have ended their four-match winning run, Graham Alexander’s side have continued to shine defensively. The former Scunthorpe boss has seen his side record five consecutive clean sheets and have not picked the ball out of their own net since the 23rd of February. Salford have also secured a pair of 1-0 wins over Ebbsfleet and Aldershot in their last two matches on the road. Given both sides defensive records, we’re backing a contest that will produce few chances on Wednesday night.
