Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has said the Catalans are determined to add more trophies to their bulging cabinet.
Pep Guardiola’s men lifted the Club World Cup on Sunday to add to the Spanish Supercopa and the European Supercup in the 2011-12 season, and Valdes is keen to keep on going and win more trophies.
“We have shown that we want to win a lot of titles. When we lift a trophy, we do it as if it was our first. We want to win more,” Valdes told the club’s official website.
“The Club World Cup is a title that’s really important to us. We all must respect this title a bit more, because it’s difficult to win it.”
The experienced shot-stopper then went on to discuss coach Guardiola’s role at the club and was full of praise for the 40-year-old.
“Day in and day out, he’s a maestro,” he said.
“Each training session is like going to class at university. He never allows you to relax. He taught me how to enjoy the game and to play team football.”
Barcelona are preparing for Thursday’s Copa del Rey round-of-32 second-leg clash at home against L’Hospitalet. Guardiola’s men lead 1-0 from the first leg.
