Emiliano Viviano is delighted with his move to Palermo and is eyeing first-team action as he aims to force his way back into the Italy squad.

The ex-Bologna goalkeeper signed for Inter Milan at the start of the 2011/12 season, but did not make an appearance for Claudio Ranieri’s side after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in July.

The 26-year-old is keen to start playing again, and said he is available for the Stadio Renza Barbera team’s game against Genoa this weekend.

“I’m fine, thanks to my strong character that enabled me to respond immediately to my injury,” he told Ansa.

“After six months of inactivity I have a great desire to return. I feel great; from the day after I hurt myself I started to work.”

“I just really want to play. It would be ideal if I could play for Palermo and return to the national team.”

“I have been amazed by the affection of the people of Palermo, although I have not done anything yet for their team.”

“Can I play on Sunday? I am available, the coach will decide.”
