Luciano Spalletti was encouraged by Juventus’ second-half display as they ended a run of four league games without a win after thrashing Pisa 4-0.

The first half was a largely uneventful affair, with Khephren Thuram restricted to shots from distance, while Jonathan David headed over.

However, the shackles came off after the break, with Juve opening the scoring after Kenan Yildiz’s cross was met by Andrea Cambiaso, who marked his 26th birthday with a goal.

Cambiaso now has three goals for the season, making it his personal best tally in a top-flight campaign.

The second arrived through Thuram after Manuel Locatelli’s effort struck the post, before Yildiz capped off a brilliant display with a wonderful goal.

Yildiz is now one of only three players born in 2005 or later to have scored at least five goals (nine) and provided at least as many assists (five) in Europe’s big five leagues this season, alongside Lamine Yamal and Yan Diomande.

Substitute Jeremie Boga rounded off a wonderful second-half display with a fourth in added time to add gloss to Juve’s first Serie A win since February 1.

“In the first half, something tactical just wasn’t working for us,” said Spalletti, who was also celebrating his birthday.

“We played more our own way in the second half, and we got the win that we deserved.

“There’s no need to think too much about the future, but instead focus on our day-to-day work.”

It has been a difficult period for Juventus, following a Coppa Italia quarter-final defeat to Atalanta and elimination from the Champions League after losing a two-legged tie to Galatasaray, but Spalletti remains positive about the players at his disposal.

He said: “I’m pleased to see that the guys are ambitious, that they’re using what has happened in this period well.”
