Wolfsburg’s Costa joins Lille

Wolfsburg’s Portuguese defender Ricardo Costa has completed a move to French side Lille OSC, the club have announced. Costa had reportedly stated his desire for a move away from the Volkswagen Arena a few weeks ago and the Wolves have allowed him to transfer after signing Brazilian defender Reves from Gremio as a replacement.

The 28 year old Costa was originally groomed by Boavista, but started his senior career with FC Porto. After several years at the Estadio do Dragao, he moved north to Wolfsburg in 2007. He earned his first cap for Portugal in 2005 and some good performances for Lille. who are currently in the running for a spot in next season’s Champions League, could very well see him on the Portuguese flight to South Africa this summer.
