AC Milan defender Mario Yepes faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining an ankle injury at the weekend.
The 35-year-old was hurt in the second half of last weekend’s 2-2 Serie A draw against Bologna and was forced to leave the pitch due to the knock.
Scans on Wednesday revealed Yepes has suffered damaged ankle ligaments.
The Colombian centre-back will have to undergo surgery to rectify the injury and will consequently be out of action for up to 10 weeks.
It is not yet known whether Yepes will be operated on in Italy or in Amsterdam.
