Ancelotti happy with Madrid squad

Carlo Ancelotti believes that Real Madrid do not need to make any more additions this summer.

Real Madrid C.F. boss Carlo Ancelotti believes that the UEFA Champions League semi-finalists do not need to make any more additions this summer amid reports continuing to link Gareth Bale with a move to the  Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, Sky Sports understands.

Los Merengues continue to be linked with a sensational move for Tottenham Hotspur ace Bale, with reports suggesting the Spanish giants are still in pursuit of the highly-rated Wales international.

However, Ancelotti has insisted he is happy with the Real Madrid squad, and rightfully so.

“I’m very happy with the squad. We don’t need any more players,” said the former Chelsea, Milan and Paris Saint-Germain manager.

“The important thing is to create a style of play that is comfortable for my players.

“Our objective is not only to win but to also play beautiful, attacking football.”

The club have brought in the likes of Asier Illarramendi, Casemiro Daniel Carvajal and Isco this summer, while Denis Cheryshev, 22, and Jesé Rodríguez, 20, are also looking to break into the first-team after each of them enjoyed magnificent campaigns with Real Madrid Castilla last term.

The capture of Isco, who joined Madrid from Málaga CF for a reported €27 million, is — without a shadow of a doubt — the best single piece of transfer business this summer.

The La Liga runners-up will play host to Real Betis tomorrow night, and Isco is ready to go.

”The team is looking very good to me. Pre-season has been very good, we’ve improved game by game. We’re ready and raring to go,” said the Spain international.

”He [Ancelotti] is very approachable and friendly and he’s always checking in on you. His philosophy of football is perfect for this Madrid team. We have the perfect coach for us and we’ll see a great Real Madrid side this year.

”He has told us we must keep the ball, be bold and be creative. We also have to press high up the pitch so we don’t tire ourselves out. His philosophy is ideal for players that like to use the ball well.

”We’re going to see an attractive Madrid side and we’re going to do great things.”

Wenger left frustrated after Villa defeat

One manager’s delight is another one’s misery.

This, of course, pertains to the “delight” of Paul Lambert and the “misery” of Arsene Wenger following Aston Villa’s 3-1 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Following the Gunners’ loss to Villa, Wenger told reporters: “You got what you wanted, you should be happy. Before the start the season that was all you write in the papers so what do you expect?”

That’s brilliant.

Wenger, who has not won a trophy for Arsenal in over eight years, also insisted the club’s failure to beat Villa was not due to a lack of summer spending.

Fair enough…With that said, a signing — or two — would not have hurt either, surely.

“My job is to make the fans happy, but we haven’t lost a game because of that [not spending],” added Wenger.

“We take our work seriously and we analyse every player in the world and spend 24 hours a day doing that.

“We are ready to spend, but until we buy players we have to win football games and it is not an excuse not to win the game today.”

Now then, Wenger, unlike Ancelotti, does not have the luxury to be “happy” with his squad, especially after suffering an embarrassing home loss to Villa (no disrespect intended).

Thus, the only solution is to revamp the squad, i.e. buy players. Start with Geoffrey Kondogbia. His release clause is €20 million.
