Assessing Arsenal Transfer Links ahead of Next Season

Arsenal have become a real force under manager Mikel Arteta, twice rivalling Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City for the Premier League title. Having shored up at the back while scoring for fun going forward, the team has been a joy to watch and if you are keen to see this line-up live, it’s possible to purchase Arsenal London tickets and experience the exciting style of football at the Emirates Stadium in full flow.

With Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka among the club’s star names and key to the current success, the Gunners are now looking to bolster the squad further to ensure they are seasoned challengers at the top of the table. This article will assess some of the names to have been linked with a switch to Arsenal ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Viktor Gyokeres, Sporting Lisbon

The Sweden international has been in sensational form for the Portuguese giants this season following his move from Coventry City last summer. Gyokeres has netted 27 goals in 31 matches to fire Sporting to the title ahead of Porto and city rivals Benfica and is now wanted by Arsenal, according to reports.

A fine finisher, particularly in one-on-one situations, the striker has a direct style of play and works tirelessly for the team with his non-stop running, harrying opposition defences and leading to plenty of chances.

Having played in England previously with Brighton and the Sky Blues, Gyokeres should have no problem coping with the physicality and pace of the game in the Premier League.

However, Arsenal won’t have a free run at securing his services, with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain also keen and Sporting setting his release clause at a massive £86m. Despite the huge fee, Gyokeres could be worth it and elevate Arsenal to new heights.

Alexander Isak, Newcastle

An alternate option to Gyokeres who could also catapult the Gunners to the title in 2025 is Newcastle attacker Alexander Isak. Another Swedish striker linked to the Emirates Stadium, Isak has 20 Premier League goals in 27 appearances for the Magpies this campaign and certainly knows where the net is with a total of 30 strikes since arriving in England in 2022.

With some comparing elements of his play to that of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, he loves to run in behind defences in order to get in on goal and boasts neat footwork to beat his man. If he produced anything like the form of the iconic former number 14 he would be idolised by the Gunners faithful.

Still only 24, the signing of Isak would be a wise investment as he continues to grow into one of the top players in the Premier League. Expect the forward to score plenty of goals in the English top-flight next season whether he joins Arteta and Co or stays with Newcastle who themselves are aiming to compete with Arsenal at the top.

Michael Olise, Crystal Palace

The Eagles playmaker has been one of the most entertaining players to watch in the Premier League this season, with his link-up with Eberechi Eze catching the eye, particularly during Palace’s 4-0 victory over Manchester United.

Olise combines skill and trickery with an electric turn of pace and can hit stunning shots from distance. Scoring nine goals and recording four assists this season, he has bee a key player at Selhurst Park and would certainly boost the Gunners squad as they aim for glory at home and on the continent.

Arsenal are said to be monitoring the forward player but face competition from City, Liverpool and Newcastle.

Jean-Clair Todibo, Nice

The Gunners have the best defence in the Premier League this campaign, having conceded only 28 goals in 36 matches and goalkeeper David Raya leading the clean sheet charts. However, while Ben White, William Saliba and Gabriel have been rock solid at the back, it is still important for Arsenal to add to the backline.

One name said to be interesting Arteta and his team is centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo of Nice. The 24-year-old, who has two caps for France, has impressed in Ligue 1 and been linked with a host of top sides.

Despite struggling for game time at Barcelona having joined the Spanish giants from Toulouse in 2019, he was still only a teenager at the Nou Camp and this three-season spell back in his homeland has seen him fulfil his potential. Todibo is a top defender and would certainly be a great addition to any club in the Premier League.

Summing Up

Arsenal have proven themselves to be the real deal this season in the race for the title and are now one of the top teams in Europe with a strong defence and forward line firing them to impressive results. However, in order to keep up with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League, Arteta is aware he will need to keep adding fresh talent to his team. With the right signings, with an out-and-out striker a good addition, the Gunners could go all the way and reign supreme in the Premier League.
