Juventus assistant coach Angelo Alessio was relieved to see his side record a last gasp win over Bologna in Serie A on Wednesday.
Paul Pogba’s 92nd-minute winner ensured the defending champions moved four points clear at the top of the league and extended their unbeaten league run to 49 games with a 2-1 win.
“We really wanted this victory, even if we only secured victory in the very last minute,” Alessio said.
“We should have closed out the match before, but things like this happen in football, Bologna equalised and then our whole team attacked but only managed to score at the very end.”
Alessio, standing in for suspended coach Antonio Conte, said the club is eager to surpass AC Milan’s record of 58 Serie A games unbeaten ahead of Saturday’s clash with fierce rivals Inter Milan.
“Yes, we certainly aren’t lacking the desire to win and the determination, and we have already proved it on more than one occasion. That’s part of our DNA and we will continue like this,” he said.
“Yes, today we chose to play (Mauricio) Isla, (Paolo) De Ceglie, (Martin) Caceres, (Emanuele) Giaccherini and Pogba, and they all performed really well – Giaccherini and Pogba in particular.
“They’re part of our strong organisation, they know what is expected of them, so in some ways their task is made easier.”
