Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti sang the praises of Zlatan Ibrahimovic after his side’s 1-0 victory over Nancy on Saturday.

The capital club failed struggled to take charge of the game at Stade Marcel Picot, but a 75th-minute strike from the Swede ensured that their unbeaten run continued.

“I thank Ibrahimovic. He is a fantastic player,” the former AC Milan boss told reporters after the match.

“We lost here last season, so this is an important win for us.

“This win will increase the character and personality of this team. The second period was better for us, as we played with more intensity. [Mathieu] Bodmer and [Adrien] Rabiot gave greater security to the team.

“[Javier] Pastore was not used to playing in midfield, which explained our early difficulties, but he did well once he moved behind the strikers, though things were difficult for [Jeremy] Menez tonight,” he said.

Ibrahimovic’s 10 goals in just nine Ligue 1 appearances have helped propel his team to the top of the table, three points clear of second-placed Toulouse.
