Arsenal struggled to break Aston Villa during the first half of their clash at the Emirates on Tuesday, but they rose to the challenge after the break and eventually won the game by 4-1.
However, there was one moment of strong controversy in the game. A few minutes before the hour mark, with the scoreline standing at 2-0, Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino committed a clearly bookable offence on Villa’s Morgan Rogers, and he was already on a yellow card.
Despite strong protests from the visitors, referee Darren England refused to give a second yellow and send the Spaniard off.
