August 25th: Friday’s Football Double – 5/1 Special, Tips & Predictions

With the likes of La Liga and the Bundesliga getting back underway on Friday night, we are treated to a handful of heavyweight affairs from across the continent.

Ahead of a stacked Friday schedule, we have found a couple of contests that are worth keeping an eye out for.

19:30 RB Leipzig vs Stuttgart

Opening the 2023/24 campaign with what they would have billed as a missed opportunity last weekend as they slumped to an action-packed 3-2 defeat at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig will be desperate to claim an immediate response here. Looking to grab their first Bundesliga victory at the second attempt on Friday night, Marco Rose’s men will be excited to make a return to the Red Bull Arena.

Once again gaining a string of plaudits last season as they claimed another bronze medal finish among Germany’s elite last season, the former Borussia Dortmund boss has seen his squad win each of their final four top-flight showdowns by an aggregate score of 10-4.

With some in their camp looking to mount a genuine title charge this time around, Rose will certainly be calling on the red-hot Dani Olmo to spearhead Leipzig’s charge this weekend.

Once again finding the net away at Leverkusen last week after bagging that famous Super Cup hat-trick against Bayern Munich on August 12th, the Spanish international has notched six goals in his last four contests continuing on from their pre-season preparations.

On the flip side, while Stuttgart might have opened the 2023/24 campaign with a thumping 5-0 romp against Bochum, the Reds certainly face a heavyweight challenge here.

Despite just about clinging to their Bundesliga status last season, Friday’s guests will be worried by a nightmare record against Leipzig.

Slumping to a 2-1 defeat when they travelled to the Red Bull Arena back on January 27th, Stuttgart have remarkably failed to win any of their 10 historic showdowns against the title dreamers.

20:30 Celta Vigo vs Real Madrid

Eventually finishing 10 points adrift of defending their La Liga crown last season, it is no secret that Real Madrid are seeking some domestic stability this time around. However, despite coming under some real scrutiny prior to the summer interval, Friday’s hosts have certainly come flying out of the traps since opening up the 2023/24 campaign.

Getting the new La Liga season underway with a routine 2-0 victory away at Athletic Bilbao on August 12th, Los Blancos were last seen laying down another domestic marker.

Coming from behind and landing a lively 3-1 win away at Almeria, Carlo Ancelotti’s men should be smelling another chance when they travel to Balaidos on Friday night.

With summer arrival and England international Jude Bellingham notching three goals in his opening two La Liga showdowns this season, Madrid have quickly gained an early reputation for their free-scoring performances in the final third.

On the flip side, although Celta Vigo might have been last seen snatching a 1-1 stalemate away at Real Sociedad, Rafa Bentinez’s men have failed to make much of a statement since getting the new campaign underway.

Getting proceedings underway on August 13th as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat at home against Osasuna, the one-time Newcastle boss will be bracing himself for a huge challenge this weekend.

Hit with a 2-0 loss when they travelled to the Spanish capital for their most recent meetings against Los Blancos on April 22nd, the Sky Blues have claimed just a single point from any of their last 11 straight showdowns against the title contenders.
