Bitesize Prediction: Brentford vs Everton – 23/09/23

Competition: Premier League

Market: Brentford win

Odds: 4/5 @ BetUS

Hoping to make an immediate return to winning ways this weekend, Brentford will welcome a struggling Everton to west London on Saturday evening.

Starting with the hosts, left disappointed last weekend as they were eventually hit with a 1-0 loss away at Newcastle, Brentford will certainly be seeking an immediate response here. Nevertheless, although Thomas Frank’s men might have missed out on the chance to lay down a heavyweight marker at St. James’ Park, the Bees have once again gained a string of plaudits since opening up the 2023/24 campaign. Consistently demonstrating that they can mix it with the Premier League elite, the one-time Brondby boss has seen his squad suffer just a single defeat from their opening six appearances across all competitions. With their bright start highlighted by a 3-0 romp against local rivals Fulham on August 19th, Brentford have also gained a reputation for their continued success on home soil. In fact, along with opening the new campaign with an action-packed 2-2 draw against Tottenham last month, the Bees have lost just one of their previous 18 straight Premier League contests in front of their own supporters.

As for the visitors, while Everton might have just about clung to their Premier League status last season, the Toffees are enduring another public Premier League nightmare. Marking their return from September’s international break with a toothless display on home soil as they slumped to a 1-0 loss at the hands of Arsenal, it appears that there is mounting pressure on Sean Dyche’s shoulders. Mustering just a single point from any of their opening five top-flight appearances, it is no secret that the Blues are bracing themselves for another relegation scrap this time around. Blown away following a 4-0 drumming at the hands of Aston Villa last month, Everton have also failed to find the net in four of their first five Premier League showdowns. Already battling it out in the drop zone and dealing with a string of issues both on and off the pitch at Goodison Park, we are backing a home victory in west London this weekend.
