Looking to make an immediate return to winning ways on Monday night, Racing Santander will welcome Huesca to Cantabria.
Starting with the hosts, eventually forced to settle for what would have been a disappointing bottom-half finish last season, Jose Alberto’s side are desperate to mount a genuine play-off charge this time around. Although the Cantabria-based outfit might have been last seen slumping to a routine 2-0 defeat ta the hands of Espanyol, there is no doubt that Los Montaneses will be smelling the chance to claim an immediate boost here. Gaining plenty of praise since opening up the 2023/24 campaign and with their eye-catching start underlined by a 4-0 romp against Eibar earlier in the month, Racing will also be excited to make a return to the Campos de Sport de El Sardinero on Monday night. In fact, continuing on from last season, Alberto’s men have won each of their last six Segunda showdowns in front of their own supporters by an aggregate score of 14-2. With that run stemming all the way back to March 25th, Racing are seen as a standout contender here.
As for the visitors, firmly looking over their shoulder at a looming relegation scrap last season, it is no secret that Huesca are simply seeking some Segunda stability this time around. However, signing off their pre-season preparations with a 1-0 loss at home against FC Andorra earlier in the month, Cuco Ziganda’s side have had little to cheer about since opening up the 2023/24 campaign. Last seen putting in another downbeat performance as they were hit with a routine 2-0 defeat at the hands of Tenerife, it appears that the Aragon-based outfit could be set for another tricky second-tier campaign. Rightfully tipped as a landslide underdog when they travel to the Campos de Sport de El Sardinero on Monday night, Huesca will also be worried by their most recent meeting against the play-off dreamers. Suffering a 1-0 loss when they welcomed Racing Santander to town for a friendly showdown on July 29th, we are expecting a similar outcome here.
