Competition: EFL Trophy

Market: Shrewsbury win

Odds: 11/10 @ BetUS

Two sides who will turn their attention back to EFL Trophy duties on Tuesday night, Shrewsbury will welcome Walsall to New Meadow.

Starting with the hosts, making an immediate return to winning ways over the weekend as they eventually claimed a thrilling 3-2 victory against Reading, there is no doubt that Shrewsbury will be calling on a repeat performance here. Excited to turn their attention back to EFL Trophy action on Tuesday night, Matt Taylor’s side will also be overjoyed by their continued success n home soil. In fact, along with opening November with another 3-2 win against Colchester, the Shrew have won four of their last five appearances at New Meadow across all formats. Likewise, it should also be highlighted, Shrewsbury have suffered just a single loss from any of their previous seven showdowns in front of their own supporters – a run that stems all the way back to September 16th. Although Taylor’s men might be seeking a first EFL Trophy win at the third attempt on Tuesday night, the former Walsall boss will certainly be smelling the chance to get one over on his former employers here.

As for the visitors, while Walsall might have extended on their FA Cup adventure earlier in the month as they landed a 4-1 victory away at non-league outfit Sheppery United, it appears that might have just been a minor boost for the Saddlers. Making an immediate return to losing ways over the weekend thanks to a 1-0 loss at home against Harrogate, Mat Sadler’s side should face another stern challenge here. With just a single win from any of their previous five showdowns across all formats, the Midlands-based outfit have also shown some extended strugglers on the road. Picking up just a single point from any of their previous three League Two contests away from the Bescot Stadium, Walsall have also shipped nine strikes in those three appearances. Currently sat rock-bottom of Group 9 and putting just one-point on the board, we are expecting a home victory on Tuesday night.

Bet: Shrewsbury 11/10 to beat Walsall in Tuesday’s EFL Trophy showdown @ BetUS
