Bitesize Prediction: Watford vs Tottenham – 01/01/22

Competition: Premier League

Market: Tottenham win

Odds: 7/10 @ 888sport

Looking to start the New Year with maximum points across the capital, Tottenham will make the trip to relegation scrappers Watford on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, marking their return with what was another worrying display on home soil, Watford find themselves firmly at the heart of a relegation scrap. Throwing away their early lead and hit with a thumping 4-1 loss against West Ham, the pressure really is mounting on Claudio Ranieri’s shoulders already. With many tipping the Hornets as a leading pick to be hit with an immediate Championship return this season, the one-time Leicester boss has seen his struggling squad lose each of their last five Premier League matchups on the spin. Entering their enforced break with a last-gasp 2-1 defeat away at Brentford, Watford have also gained a real reputation for their rather glaring problems at the back. With just a single win to their names since October 23rd, Ranieri’s side should be bracing themselves for a stern test here.

As for the visitors, while Tottenham would have been left hugely frustrated to have only collected a point away at Southampton earlier in the week, Spurs should still find the mood in their camp at a real high. Finding an immediate boost since bringing Antonio Conte to north London, the Lilywhites have their sights firmly set on making a charge for the top-four. Yet to taste a single domestic defeat since bringing in the one-time Chelsea boss, Tottenham will also be glad to see Harry Kane refind his goalscoring touch. With the England skipper finding the net in his last three Premier League matchups on the spin, Spurs should be smelling a real chance here. Landing a 1-0 win when they faced off against the relegation scrappers back in September, we’re backing a similar away victory on Saturday afternoon.
