Hull City manager Steve Bruce has rubbished suggestions that he is interested in signing Wolves striker Kevin Doyle.

The Irishman, who played in the Premier League with both Wolves and Reading, has been linked with a move to the KC Stadium since the Molineux outfit dropped into League One.

However, Bruce believes the close-season signings of Danny Graham and Yannick Sagbo, alongside the likes of George Boyd and Nick Proschwitz, can help the club survive their first season back in the top flight.

“I don’t really know where that has come from,” the former Sunderland boss told talkSPORT. “I have been linked with about 150 players and we have taken in four.

“We have brought in Danny Graham (on loan from Sunderland) and then we brought in big Yannick Sagbo from Evian last week so in that department we are okay at the moment.”

Bruce takes his charges to Stamford Bridge on Sunday to pit his wits against Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea, and he is expecting a difficult challenge.

“To say it is going to be tough is a bit of an understatement, but that’s what we are in the Premier League for,” Bruce continued.

“To take on the mighty Chelsea, with Jose coming back, should be a fantastic occasion.”
