Roma defender Nicolas Burdisso could miss the rest of the season after being stretchered off for Argentina on Tuesday.
The 30-year-old picked up a knee injury in a collision with Porto’s James Rodriguez in his nation’s 2-1 win over Colombia, and will now have tests to determine the extent of the knock.
The South American centre-back may is thought to have picked up ligament damage in the World Cup qualifier, and is set to be examined further before flying back to Europe.
A lengthy lay-off would be a blow for Luis Enrique’s side, which is seventh in Serie A, seven points behind leaders Udinese.
Burdisso, who joined Roma from Inter Milan in 2009, has made nearly 100 appearances for Roma, including starting Roma’s last game against Novara, which they won 2-0.
