Real Madrid forward Jose Callejon was pleased with his side’s comprehensive 5-1 victory over Ponferradina in the Copa del Rey.

With Madrid having won the first leg of the last-32 tie 2-0 away from home last week, the Spanish giants headed into the encounter at the Santiago Bernabeu as favourites.

Coach Jose Mourinho rested a number of first-team regulars such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria but Real still registered a convincing win against the Segunda Division B Group 2 team.

Callejon, who scored two goals at the Bernabeu, is delighted with their performance and is happy for the Madrid fans.

“Real Madrid are the best team in the world,” the Spaniard said.

“They have the best players and always do their best on the pitch. Things are turning out well.”

“It was a special day for the team because we won the tie and all Madridistas enjoyed themselves immensely.”

“Some other player will score in another match. Winning is what’s important. We all work hard and help out considerably. We hope to keep this up next year.”

Madrid will head into the winter break as leaders of La Liga with 40 points from 16 matches, three ahead of second-placed Barcelona.
