Cannavaro excited for Juventus clash

Napoli captain Paolo Cannavaro says he is looking forward to taking on Juventus this weekend in what is seen as a clash between two title contenders.

The Naples outfit continue to impress both in Serie A and the Champions League, and, after their third-placed finish last term, are widely considered to be in the running for the Scudetto this season.

Juventus, meanwhile, have put the inconsistencies of previous campaigns behind them and are currently top of the league and unbeaten ahead of the match on Sunday.

The home team’s central defender admits that with both sides doing well this season, there has been a buzz ahead of kick-off.

“There is great expectation amongst the squad and in the city itself. I can’t wait to play them,” Cannavaro told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s normal that people are speaking about this game in terms of a Scudetto tie, although it is a little premature to be saying that.”

The game will not only be a clash between the sides but also between Antonio Conte and Walter Mazzarri on opposing benches, and Cannavaro is full of praise for both coaches.

“They are two footballing men. You can see that from their immense desire to win football matches,” he said.

Juventus are five points ahead of Napoli leading up to the game, who sit back in fifth place in the standings.
