Cardiff City announce signing of Javi Guerra; Sandro linked with Serie A move

Cardiff City F.C. have completed the signing of former Real Valladolid striker Javi Guerra on a three-year deal.

Cardiff City F.C. have completed the signing of former Real Valladolid striker Javi Guerra on a three-year deal, according to the club’s official website, cardiffcityfc.co.uk.

Guerra, 32, will become an official member of the Bluebirds on 1 July after passing a medical earlier this week.

The 32-year-old Spaniard brings both experience and goal-scoring prowess to the Cardiff City Stadium ahead of the club’s crucial 2014/15 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

“I am very thankful for the warm welcome I have received here at Cardiff City and am very excited for my new challenge in Wales,” Guerra said.

“Hopefully I can keep up the level that I have been playing at in Spain for the last few seasons and that it will be a successful time for me in Cardiff, with both the club and the supporters.”

Guerra, who joined Valladolid from Levante in 2010, bagged 72 goals in 149 appearances for Pucela.

Sandro linked with Serie A move

The agent of Tottenham Hotspur F.C. defensive midfielder Sandro, Luiz Paulo Chignall, has hinted the player could move to Italy when the transfer window re-opens in the summer.

Sandro has been in-and-out of the first-team at White Hart Lane and has developed a reputation as a physically-gifted  box-to-box midfielder.

The Brazilian, who will miss out on the World Cup after making just 18 appearances for Spurs in 2013/14, was publicly criticised by former manager Tim Sherwood late last season and has subsequently been linked with a summer move to Napoli and Roma.

“The interest of Napoli and Roma? We have not had direct contacts and there have been no formal offers,” Chignall told calciomercato.com.

“We know that many clubs are following Sandro.

“He would like to play in Serie A, it is a very important championship but now we have to wait to know if he can leave Tottenham or not.”

However, Chignall has not ruled out the possibility of Sandro remaining with the North Londoners.

“He is very fine in London and has a great relationship with the fans, who consider him an idol,” added the 25-year-old’s agent.

“I think that Tottenham want to keep him, but I cannot rule out that they decide to sell if there will be a good offer.”

In other news, F.C. Internazionale Milano manager Walter Mazzarri has confirmed the club’s interest in Chelsea’s Jon Obi Mikel and Wolfsburg’s Luiz Gustavo.

“What Inter need on the market? It takes a player with the features of Luiz Gustavo, a player like a few ones in the world,” Mazzarri said.

“I fear that he is unattainable for us.

“Obi Mikel? I don’t want to name too many names. I said Luis Gustavo as an example.”
