Catania have confirmed the return of Rolando Maran as coach following the dismissal of Luigi De Canio on Thursday.
De Canio was relieved of his duties following Catania’s exit from the Coppa Italia against second-tier Siena on Wednesday, having taken over from Maran in October.
Maran, 50, will be in charge of Serie A’s bottom side ahead of their visit of Fiorentina on Sunday, with Christian Maraner joining as assistant coach.
“Catania announces that it has once again entrusted the task of technical management of the first team to Rolando Maran,” a statement on the club’s official website read.
“(Maran was) previously at the helm of the Rossazzurri last season and during the first eight games of this season.”
Catania have won just one of their last seven Serie A matches and were dumped out of the Coppa Italia 4-1 by Serie B side Siena at the Stadio Angelo Massimino.
Maran’s side sit four points off safety, having won only three times in the league this season.
