Hull City dented Blackpool’s promotion chances with a late equaliser in their 1-1 draw in the Championship on Friday.

Matt Fryatt scored in the final minute of regular time at Bloomfield Road to grab a share of the points from Hull and deny Blackpool the opportunity to move to third on the table.

Ian Holloway’s side were in complete control in the first half, dominating possession and creating the bulk of the chances.

It took 27 minutes for the hosts to break the deadlock, with Tom Ince producing a piece of individual brilliance to give Blackpool the lead.

The winger surged forward and played a one-two with striker Kevin Phillips, before unleashing a well-timed effort from the edge of the area which left goalkeeper Vito Mannone with no chance.

Although Hull did threaten more in the second half, it looked as though Blackpool would ease to victory until Fryatt’s late intervention.

The striker reacted quickest when the ball was headed into his path inside the six yard box, poking the ball past a flat-footed Matt Gilks and into the back of the net to earn a point for Hull.

Hull have no moved to within one point of a top six spot, while Blackpool remain fourth, five points behind second-placed West Ham.
