Djibril Cisse has confirmed he will stay at Lazio, amid rumours of his potential move away from the Stadio Olimpico.

The 30-year-old has recently been linked with a move to back to his native France with Auxerre after struggling to consistent game time with Edy Reja’s side.

But Cisse has revealed he would prefer to stay in Rome and fight for his place rather than return to France.

“I hear a lot about me, so I’ll clarify the situation. I will stay at Lazio and show who I really am,” Cisse posted on Twitter.

“I do not give up, I am a fighter, and I will show this. I am looking forward to playing again.”

Cisse’s future has come under speculation recently as he has come under pressure from Tommaso Rocchi for his starting role. The Frenchman’s current deal is set to expire in 2015.

With the Serie A currently on its winter break, Lazio sit fourth on the table with 30 points.
