Former England international Michael Owen remains hopeful that he will return to Premier League action soon, despite being without a club.

The 32-year-old, who made 89 appearances and scored 40 goals for England, was released by Manchester United in the off-season and has no time restriction on when he can join a team due to being a free agent.

And Owen is confident he will find a new team soon, and has hinted that negotiations with possible suitors will be easier now the transfer window has closed with managers being able to assess the layout of their squad without the pressure of deadline day.

“Nothing to confirm just yet, will be an interesting few days now that the transfer window is closed,” Owen wrote on his Twitter account.

Stoke City and Everton were reportedly keen on signing the former Liverpool and Real Madrid forward, whose career has been blighted by injury.
