Former Manchester United strikers Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke have proven their understanding is still better than the club’s current forwards.
While Manchester United are on track to score their second-highest tally of goals in an English Premier League season in this campaign, the current strike-force of Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez apparently still lack the ‘telepathic’ understanding of Cole and Yorke.
The Premier League leaders have notched 77 goals in 30 matches and if they score at the same rate over their remaining nine games, Manchester United will finish the 2012/13 campaign with 90 goals.
That will be second only to the 97 they notched in 1999/00 with Yorke (20 goals) and Cole (19) leading the way.
In a promotional video released this week, Cole and Yorke challenged Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez to a series of tests to be performed blindfolded.
While Cole successfully nodded Yorke’s cross home on his first attempt, Rooney needed three chances before he volleyed Welbeck’s cross into the top corner.
