Corinthians president-elect Roberto Andrade has revealed that the club will make a new approach for Carlos Tevez in 2012.
Andrade will take over the presidency of the Brazilian Serie A outfit from Andres Sanchez in January, after the incumbent chose not to run for a second term.
And after Sanchez saw his efforts at signing Manchester City’s controversial Argentine rebuffed on several occasions, the new president revealed that he shared his predecessor’s admiration for the striker.
“He is a great player. At the start of the year we will start up talks again, but it will be a difficult negotiation,” Andrade told Estadao on Tuesday.
“His value is extremely high, but Corinthians will work hard on this.”
After Corinthians’ loan bid fell through with the close of the Brazilian transfer window in July, Milan emerged as the favourites to sign the forward, although a concrete offer is yet to be tabled from Italy.
Tevez joined Corinthians after leaving Boca Juniors in his homeland in 2004, spending two seasons in Brazil before moving to the English Premier League with West Ham along with team-mate Javier Mascherano.
He has not appeared for City since September, when he refused to come on as a substitute during the Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich.
