Deportivo Saprissa began the Costa Rica Primera Division in style with a 4-2 home triumph against Perez Zeledon.

It was not all smooth sailing for Saprissa as Jorge Gatgens put Perez ahead after only six minutes before Marlon Escoe equalised in the 26th minute.

Brunete Hay briefly restored Perez’s lead just after half-time before Escoe decided to stamp his presence on the contest.

Escoe, a Costa Rica U20 international, tore the game apart with goals in the 53rd and 62nd minutes to complete a stunning hat-trick.

Fellow striker Ariel Rodriguez rounded off the win in stoppage time ensuring that Saprissa will end the weekend on top of the table.

Daniel Quiros scored a brace as Puntarenas coasted to a 3-1 victory at home against 10-man Belen Siglo XXI.

Quiros had his two goals by the 18-minute mark before Ariel Santana pulled a goal back on 34 minutes.

Belen brought on Cristian Carrillo in the 54th minute but the attacker managed to get himself a straight red only eight minutes later.

Puntarenas managed to make the advantage count in the 73rd minute through Daniel Colindres and see out the match comfortably.

A goal in each half helped Santos de Guapiles to a 2-0 result against Limon while Carmelita came from a goal behind to defeat Alajuelense 2-1.

A goal to each side in the first half saw Herediano and Uruguay draw 1-1 and there was a goalless draw between Cartagines and UCR.
