Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has dismissed suggestions Luis Suarez is interested in a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Uruguayan striker Suarez told French TV channel Canal+ that the wealthy French club had a reputation for ambition and that he would enjoy playing with his national-team captain Diego Lugano, currently at PSG.

“Yes, I could come to Paris, like lots of other clubs. There are lots of big clubs with such a reputation who want to build a strong team and Paris are one of these teams who buy to strengthen their side,” Suarez said.

The 25-year-old has had a difficult season so far after a promising start, having received an eight-game ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra.

He has only notched two league goals since October in a Reds side that has the fifth-worst scoring record in the Premier League.

Suarez’s comments came in a feature on Lugano, and as such Dalglish believes they were taken out of context.

“How often has Lugano played this year?” Dalglish responded when asked about Suarez’s comments. “I think you’ll find (Napoli striker Edinson) Cavani was also mentioned and I think you’ll find it was a television programme about Lugano.”
