Daniel Opare on Roma radar

Belgian newspaper La Derniere Heure is reporting that AS Roma are in pole position to sign Standard Liege defender Daniel Opare.

The Giallorossi aim to sign a right-sided defender as a long-term replacement for Douglas Maicon and they seem to have made the Ghana international one of their top targets.

According to La Derniere Heure, Roma boss Rudi Garcia had been alerted of the player’s potential while he was at Lille and has since continued to monitor his performances.

And with Opare’s current deal due to expire at the end of the current campaign, the Frenchman believes this is the right time to try and lure his long-term target to Stadio Olimpico.

The 23-year-old has spent his entire career up to date at Standard Liege, making a total of 79 league performances, managing 8 assists in the process.

His suitors Roma host Livorno on Saturday afternoon, and are priced at 2/11 to emerge victorious.
