Alessandro Del Piero believes Juventus must take a measured approach to this season’s Serie A title fight.

Antonio Conte’s men top the league table and have a game in hand over second-placed Lazio, who are level on points with the Turin club.

Del Piero – a five-time Serie A winner at Juventus – hailed Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Palermo, but has warned his team-mates of the long road ahead.

“The victory against Palermo marks another important step in our season. We didn’t think the result would be easy, remembering the previous years,” Del Piero told his personal website.

“We are on top, and with a game in hand to play. We must continue and remember that we have not achieved anything yet.”

Del Piero also spoke of his playing future at an event organised by Adidas, with the 37-year-old revealing he is focused solely on his club’s current pursuits.

“I have enjoyed our time at the top, but I can’t deny that I suffer when I’m on the bench. I am still the captain of the team, as my teammates have reiterated,” the former Italy forward said.

“I hope to score my first goal in the Juventus Stadium. The future is Saturday, I do not want to think about what will happen from June onwards.”

“I will play for a few more years, football is my passion and I enjoy it.”
