Roma coach Luis Enrique believes his side deserved a better result than their 2-0 defeat at Udinese on Friday.
Goals from Antonio Di Natale and Mauricio Isla in the last 11 minutes of the game proved the difference, as Roma failed to capitalise on the chances they created in the second half.
Enrique believes Roma did enough to take at least one point and lamented Simon Kjaer’s injury that allowed Di Natale to score the opener.
“I do not think we were worse than them, the draw would have been the fairest result,” Enrique told Sky Sport Italia.
“Udinese’s goal came following a great action from Di Natale which came after Kjaer’s injury. Then, we got a bit loose as we looked for the equaliser and we were once again punished in the end.”
“Our full-backs had to be careful about potential counter-attacks and I think they did a good job. I am happy with the work and the attitude of my players.”
“Udinese are a very good side, they deserve to be at the top of Serie A.”
The results sees Roma suffer their third defeat in six matches on the road as they remain fifth in the table, now seven points off the top.
“We must improve, especially away from home, but this is part of the growing process of the team,” Enrique said.
