First-half goals from Johnson and Palhinha seal Tottenham Hotspur victory away to Manchester City (Video)

Tottenham Hotspur may have failed to sign Eberechi Eze, but looking at the way they beat Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday, they don’t seem to miss his influence much.

Despite having just 39% of possession throughout the match, Spurs repeatedly found ways to hurt City and took advantage of everything Pep Guardiola’s side did wrong.

Brennan Johnson’s opener in the 35th minute, initially ruled out for offside but then given by the VAR, was the result of a well-organized counterattack.

And the second goal of the match, in the first-half stoppage time, was the result of a perfectly executed high pressing. Joao Palhinha thus opened his Spurs account.
