Flamengo have completed the signing of striker Vagner Love from CSKA Moscow, the Brazilian club have confirmed.
The highly rated striker was eager to return to Brazil after spending more than seven years in Russia and he has now officially joined the Brazilian giants.
Flamengo have announced the deal on their official website, without disclosing the cost of the transfer.
“We have always shown a huge affection for Vagner Love. He is a fan of the club and he has the profile we want at Flamengo,” club president Patricia Amorim commented on the club’s official website.
“He is in love with this club and he will put on the holy cloak with a lot of authority.
“Only players who want to play can do so at Flamengo and he always showed that he wanted this.
“We are very happy with his return and we hope that he will score many goals for our fans to celebrate.”
Vagner Love joined CSKA Moscow from Palmeiras in the summer of 2004 and went on to score 79 goals in 158 league appearances for the Russian giants.
However, he became homesick after spending five years in Moscow and was allowed to join Palmeiras on loan in the summer of 2009.
In January 2010, the striker signed a loan deal with Flamengo before returning to Moscow at the end of the season.
He has now returned for a second spell with Rubro-Negro in a deal thought to be worth around €10 million.
