Fluminense jump to top as Corinthians drop points

(GSM) – Fluminense are the new leaders in the Brazilian Serie A after Corinthians were held to a 1-1 draw at Palmeiras on Sunday.

‘Flu’ beat Atletico Paranaense 3-1 on Saturday with two goals from Washington and one from Emerson, forcing Corinthians to win their away match to Palmeiras in other to reconquer the top spot.

Things started well for the Sao Paulo side as Jorge Henrique opened the scoring after 21 minutes, but Palmeiras leveled through Edinho 12 minutes later.

With 12 rounds played, Fluminense are now point point ahead of Corinthians.

Meanwhile, a 0-0 draw with Gremio was enough for Internacional to jump to third place at the expense of Ceara, who had lost 2-1 to Sao Paulo on Saturday.
