Genoa agree to sign Alberto Gilardino

Genoa chairman Enrico Preziosi has confirmed that they are on the verge of signing Alberto Gilardino from Fiorentina.

The Marassi outfit were looking for a new striker to pair with Rodrigo Palacio and it looks as though they have found their man.

“Tomorrow (Thursday) the signing of Gilardino for Genoa will be made official,” Preziosi told Sky Sport Italia.

“We do not yet have Fiorentina’s signature on the deal, but there is an agreement in place and it will become official.

“To Fiorentina will go €8million, with the player signing a four-and-a-half-year contract.

“I think Fiorentina will take Maxi Lopez.”

The former Italy international scored 48 goals in three and a half seasons at Fiorentina, while scoring just two in 12 games this season.
