Former Nottingham Forest and Leicester City boss Steve Cooper has been appointed as head coach of 11-time Danish champions Brondby.
Brondby are fourth in the Danish Superliga after seven games of the season, four points adrift of leaders and defending champions Copenhagen.
The club announced on Tuesday they had parted company with Frederik Birk, who only took the reins in January, and replaced him with Cooper on a three-year contract.
Cooper’s first match in charge will be against Copenhagen on Saturday, and the 45-year-old’s ultimate ambition is to win Brondby’s first league title since 2020-21.
“I want exactly what you want; a team that wins trophies and gets back to the top of Danish football,” Cooper said in an open letter to the club’s fans.
“I am ambitious to win and to see what this club can do at its very best. The ownership of Brondby feel the same way and their vision for the club is a major part of why I am here.”

Brondby will be without European football this season, having been dumped out of the Conference League play-offs by French side Strasbourg.
This will be Cooper’s first job since he was sacked by Leicester in November 2024, having only overseen 12 Premier League matches after succeeding Enzo Maresca.
He previously led Forest to a memorable Championship play-off final win in 2021-22 and kept them in the Premier League the following campaign, only to be sacked in December 2023.
