Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has received high praise following his side’s victory over Toulouse.

The 12-million-euro acquisition supplied the assist which allowed Javier Pastore to open the scoring, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic sealing a 2-0 win in the second-half.

The Italian has since been complimented by the Swedish striker, as well as fellow off-season arrival Thiago Motta, while coach Carlo Ancelotti was also satisfied with the former Pescara man’s outing.

“(Verratti) is not good, he is great,” Ibrahimovic told reporters after the game.

“Even though he is young, he has a lot of confidence. He is a big player,” Motta enthused.

The midfielder picked up a booking for dissent in the fixture, an action which PSG coach Ancelotti saw as one of the few negatives of his performance.

“He was wrong. He is usually aggressive so it is best to avoid [things like that], but he played a good match,” Ancelotti said.

Verratti himself was also pleased with his display, but insisted the victory stemmed from a collective team effort.

“This was probably my best game, but the team also played well. I still have to grow a lot,” the 19-year-old said.

PSG kick off their Champions League campaign when they play host to Dinamo Kiev on September 18.
