Harry Kane hailed Bayern Munich’s “spirit and determination” after the Bundesliga leaders twice came from behind to draw with Union Berlin.

Vincent Kompany’s side dropped their first points of the Bundesliga season, after they were forced to settle for a 2-2 stalemate at Stadion An der Alten Forsterei.

However, Bayern did maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign, with Kane heading home Tom Bischof’s cross in the 93rd minute to rescue a point.

And the forward said he and his team-mates were happy with a share of the spoils, given how the contest panned out.

“The way we came back shows the spirit and determination of this team,” he said. “It would’ve been worse to go into the international break with a defeat.

“We can keep the momentum going with this draw. 16 wins in a row is incredible. But now that it’s over, it won’t be the main talking point anymore. We move on.

“It was a tough game. We expected a battle and a lot of long balls. Many decisions and small fouls went against us today.

“It wasn’t our best game, but we stayed focused and managed to equalise. That’s football. There are games like today where things go against you. We’ll take the point.

Despite failing to take all three points, Bayern are six clear at the Bundesliga summit after second-place Leipzig lost 3-1 at Hoffenheim, with third-place Borussia Dortmund a point further back after a 1-1 draw with Hamburg.

“In the end, I think it was a good point,” added goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. “We got a point, and the competition didn’t, so we’re now six points clear.

“We struggled at defending set-pieces today, and Union did well in that aspect. It was tough today against this team, but we believe we’ll soon get back to winning ways.”
